A Surprise Gift

Great Grandpa Hair used to make thousands of these toy cars for 3rd world countries. He has his own woodshop that he built as an add-on to the garage many years ago. He can pretty much make anything you ask him to. Even if he's never made it before...he'll find a way...He'll most likely "Google It". :) One night when we were at his house I mentioned that I would love to have some toy wooden cars for Austin when he gets older so that he can have something that was made by Great Grandpa. A few weeks ago we got this SURPRISE in the mail. We LOVE THEM!

He even has his own personalized stamp that he puts on everything he's made.

Austin's new favorite toy. Too bad it's HOT PINK! Although I think if I just put a bow in his air he'd pass for a girl. His hair is getting thicker! YAY

He loves his squishy!

Too much fun.

I usually blog with pictures of Austin and talk about Austin nonstop so I thought I would give you an update on how Tyler and I are doing.

Tyler started school at TCU and has loved it so far. School hasn't been too challenging or busy yet so it hasn't seemed too bad for me yet. I still get to see him in the evenings. :) He loves being a TA and has 3 labs that he teaches. He's also working 10 hours a week at an oil and gas company that was just recently bought out by Exxon and they cater a lunch for there employees once a week. Needless to say, Tyler has gained about 5-7 pounds!!! Which is HUGE since he never gains weight. I really can't even tell the difference.

Lately, I have tried really hard to get back into running. I love running, but after having Austin I just couldn't get back into it. I blame it partially because summer seemed to start very late in Utah this year so I didn't do much before we moved. Then in Texas it was OVERLY hot and humid so I made excuses then! I have been doing a lot of walking in the mornings around our neighborhood that is full of hills. It was hard at first to even push the stroller up the hill but after a couple months of that I decided I needed more of a challenge. Tyler went running with me one Friday a couple weeks ago and pushed the stroller and I ran with my arms FREE! It felt soooooo good. It got me excited about running again. So I started out slow but only after a few weeks I've been able to run up and down the hills in my neighborhood wthout stopping...(too much) There are still hills that I haven't been able to tackle but it at least gives me some challenges to look forward to. Now hopefully those last 5-7 pounds will start coming off!

*OK, 1 thing about Austin...He loves to swim! The pool in our complex FINALLY opened so we've gone a few times. We'll hold Austin so he lays on his stomach in the water with his legs stretched out behind him and he kicks his arms and legs and looks like he's swimming across the top of the water. It's a blast!

Texan Safari!

A couple weeks ago we went to an art museum where they were giving free tours for parents with a child in a stroller. It was fun to get out and do something new. Austin looked at the other moms and kids more than the art but we had fun. Tyler came too since he didn't have school or work that day. Afterwards we came home and decided Austin looked like he was ready to go on a Safari with the outfit he was wearing.

Here he is with his trusted Rotty hunting down a bear!

He has succeeded!

We got this jumper off Craigslist. It's the Baby Einstein one and he LOVES it. I love it too. He jumped in it for about an hour the first time he was in it. He gets so excited sometimes that he'll stuff his mouth with his hand.

Soooo happy!

We had a GREAT Labor Day! We went running bright and early, then played disc golf until Austin got fussy. After lunch we went swimming in our pool that is finally open! For dinner we made hamburgers and grilled them on the George Foreman. It was a great day!
