Weekend Campout!
We went on our ward camp-out this past weekend. We were a little worried with Austin being in the heat but it worked out great. We were right on the edge of a lake and there was a nice breeze for us. Austin fell asleep around 9 pm and woke up about 4 or 5 times from about 3-6:30 am. ugh!
While I was busy packing and getting ready, Austin decided to take a break and read a book.
About 2 hous before we were going to head out a massive storm came through so we sat by the window and watched the rain come down.
FEET
Cute FEET
Here we are at our campsite with the lake behind us
We shot some arrows the next day as part of the Pioneer activities
Tyler did really well and shot 2 in the red and 1 just above it. I shot one in the center of the white plate on the right but I was aiming for the red one!
I wanna get me one of these!
We also did some knife throwing
Austin is getting better at sitting up. Still not quite there.

Rachel VS Tyler
Since we don't have TV anymore we've been playing a lot of games at night which has been great for us since we are VERY competitive against each other...ok, so maybe I am more competitive but it's been really fun. Below is the picture of The Farming Game. The board is the Yakima Valley which may be why I like it so much. I also like it because Tyler has not beaten me at this game yet! Every time I pull off with the win somehow.
Rolling high numbers during your harvest brings in the big money and I seem to have better luck in that area! Stay tuned for the next BIG game: TICKET TO RIDE!....This is a game that Tyler ALWAYS beats me at so we switch off between games so we can both rub our wins in each other's face. It's kinda funny how Tyler is the more experienced traveler than I am and he wins Ticket To Ride and my personality fits The Farming Game and that's the game I do better at. We really do love each other.

Venturing out!
I really wanted to get out of the house so we ventured out to Lake Worth...Unfortunately it was 102 degrees with a heat index of 110 degrees. Austin lasted 15 minutes and then started getting really rosy cheeks! We splashed cold water on him to cool him down and stuck him in the air conditioned car. Oh well! Tyler and I took turns jumping in and swimming.
Doesn't Tyler look buff in this picture? and yes, the water really was murky. YUM!
I love his cute little swimsuit! His smile looks so long and wide! haha.
We put cold water on his head and was able to make his hair into a little mo-fro! He is getting more red hair!!!
He's already got the mischievous look going on. He loves his toes now!

What we've been up to...
Now that we're settled in and Tyler is working full time, Austin and I spend a lot of time together at home...There are no sidewalks near our place so I can't take him out for a walk in the stroller and I don't have a car so we are trying to be creative to find things to do at home. Needless to say, we still have a lot of fun. Austin is becoming quite the wiggle bug as you can see below.
Relaxing on our futon
We got a little umbrella stroller for little outings
One night we were playing The Farming Game and got so involved we hadn't looked over at Austin for a while. When we did this is what we saw! I may have to start buckling him in...
He sure was having some fun of his own
Trying so hard to pull himself up
Didn't work too well but he was still happy
I give him LOTS of kisses...and he loves it!
Austin always rolls over onto his stomach since he likes that much more than being on his back...one time he rolled over and both arms were stuck under his belly. So what did he do?
Started in on some break dance moves!!!
I had a hard time getting the camera and getting a good picture since it didn't last long but he was kicking his legs straight up into the air! It was hilarious. We tried to get him to do it again to get a better picture so Tyler tucked his arms under his belly again and he started laughing really hard! It was awesome...but he was too smart after that and figured out how to pull his arms out real quick. Oh what great parents we are!

Happy 4th of July!
It was been a VERY BUSY month for us so I have a lot of blogging to catch up on.
(The following posts are everything we did in the month of June)
We left Provo June 22nd and began driving to Forth Worth, Texas. Tyler in BigBird (Penske Moving Truck) and me in the Grandam with Austin. We have now been here for a week and 2 days. We pulled in last Friday, June 25 at 5:30 PM.
We had some people from our new ward already at our apartment ready to unload. The office closed at 6:00 PM so we hurried over to get the keys. As we opened the door the place smelled of fresh paint and there was no electricity. Which also means NO AIR CONDITIONING. That is a death sentence here! Especially for ME who is not used to humidity.
What happened was: they put us in a different unit than what we originally agreed upon and this one did not have the electricity turned on yet...Since it was Friday, that meant we couldn't get someone to turn anything on until Monday at the earliest! So we got all our stuff in, negotiated with the manager to not pay rent for the rest of June, and stayed with one of the people who helped us move for 2 nights, and then at Tyler's cousin's house on Sunday night.
We had a lot of fun at both places and are very grateful to both families for taking us in. We have now unpacked every box and are just getting decorations up on the walls. We love our new place!
Austin's First Experience With Rice Cereal
I decided to wait on the rice cereal until we got to Texas. There was a few times while nursing him I would be eating something at the same time and he would stop eating and watch me intently, so I decided it was time to start! Here he is 5 months old!
I'm so excited for my first taste!
Incoming! Put the spoon in my mouth already.
Hmmm...I guess it wasn't as great as I thought it would be.
OK, not so bad. I'm ready for another one.
Eeeek! Too much at once!
I don't think I can handle anymore.
Austin did much better on the next go around and Loves eating his rice cereal now!
Our stop at Denver on our move to Fort Worth
On the move down to Texas we made a stop in Denver at Lyette and Kurt's house. We met them up at their family's cabin the first night and then drove into Denver for the next night.
Father and Son, chillin' in the lazy boy at the cabin.
Austin playing with Aspen. His first experience with a dog. He loved it!
When we were up at the cabin we went on a 4-5 mile walk round-trip along a river trail that led up to a lake. It was sooo beautiful there.
Along the trail we came across this Stream Gaging Station. It is hooked to a wire that stretches across the stream so Geologists can gather information about the water level and rate of flow that can be used in other hydrologic studies.
At Lake Dillon at the height of our walk
At the Denver Zoo. Austin had a great time!
Happy Face!
Lyette and I in front of the Flamingos!
This is a GIANT ANCIENT SEA TURTLE that weighs A LOT!! It was huge. He was down at the bottom of the tank for a while and then started to stir to come up for air so we timed that perfect. Austin was in awe!
There was a Peacock roaming around and claiming his territory everywhere he went
That night we went and got homemade ice cream at Bonnie Brae's and went to the park and walked around and played Bocce Ball. We had a BLAST!!! This is Lyette and in front of their house as we're getting ready to leave to continue on to Fort Worth.
Trip home to Walla Walla, June 2010
I used to ride this same rocking horse when I was a little girl. Now Austin is learning how!
Sisters with babies! It was so much fun getting these boys together for the first time and the last time for a while. Tyler and I moved to Texas so it was the last trip home before the move.
Austin is 3 and a half months older than these other two. Benson is in the middle and Brooks on the right. Those two are only 4 days apart. Kinda crazy we all had boys within 3 months! I wonder who is going to have the next one first!
"Ooooh" Austin says.
Trying to gnaw through the side of the bottle to get at the water...under the supervision of Aunt Kara...
Austin with Aunt Lori
This picture was taken in the wheat field right next to our house. I love this time of year when the wheat is tall but still green!
Austin making a goofy face. Look at those eyes!
He loved the swing we have on our swingset. Just chillin'
Definitely framing this picture!
Grandma with Austin at the campfire up at the Gasaway Farm in Dayton. We had a little talent show with the Gasaway's which turned out to be really fun! Lori and I did some country swing dancing for everyone! I did the guys part.
Austin on our way to hike the Oregon Butte with the Gasaway family. (Jana's in-laws)
This was Austin's first extended period of time in his front-pack carrier but he did GREAT! He fell asleep about 10 minutes to the top and then slept the entire way down! It was about a 6 mile hike and he definitely gave me a good workout. Good thing he's just a lil' guy!
The view was GORGEOUS!
When we stopped for lunch a mile or so from the top we saw a mountain lion walking away from us over back behind a ridge. Scary!
