NOLA Trip - New Orleans - PART III
Good thing we got our van right before our trip! We got to squeeze Janelle and Hazel in with us on our drive from Hattiesburg to NOLA. Chris was going to meet us down there.
First stop was the Aquarium
We looked like a polygamous family walking around before Chris showed up. Janelle and I were both pregnant and Hazel looked like she belonged to Tyler.
A very rare Albino Crocodile at the aquarium. It looked like it was glowing!
We were told we HAD to get the beignets from Cafe du Monde! And they did not disappoint!
My first time seeing the Mississippi River! It was HUGE! and dirty
Eat our beignets along the Mississippi River
Next stop was the Insectarium. This was a really cool place! And of course the Slug Bug was a huge hit
The boys ate some cookies with a beetle baked into it! Austin was a little hesitant but ended up eating it. Blake was pretty upset there was a bug in it and would not eat his.
I don't think Cody had any idea what he was eating...he just wanted a cookie!
Butterfly Exhibit! I loved this place
I love the colors in this picture! My chacos I've had for EVER (9-10 years) and my fresh pedicure!
Butterfly landed on Chris's head! We all stayed in a little house (AirBnB) and it was so cute and New Orleansish!
We walked through the French Quarters and ate at a place called "Daisy Duke's"! We had a lot of fun hanging out with Chris and Janelle! And although New Orleans was great...overall it was not a kid friendly place. But we're glad we made the trip out and experienced the things we did! Love making memories!
On our drive home we stopped in Houston to drop Tyler off at a work training that he would be at for an entire week. We stopped and ate dinner with one of my friend's from back home and then she was nice enough to let us come back and hang out the next day before we drove home.
NOLA Trip - Hattiesburg, MS - PART II
We made it to Chris and Janelle's on St. Patrick's Day!!! Janelle made us a "Green Eggs and Ham" dinner and we loved it!!!
Such a fun idea!
Then we found coins inside Leprechaun balls!!
Hazel loved having all the boys there! It was so fun to see her interact with them.
And of course some green rice krispy treats for dessert!
NOLA Trip Mar 2016 - PART I
We decided to take at trip down to Mississippi to visit Tyler's brother Chris and wife Janelle and cute little girl Hazel. On our drive down one of our pit stops was at a Disc Golf Course...of course...The video is of me doing 2 pull-ups and I think I was 34/35 weeks pregnant at this point...
I am more of a lets just drive and get there...Tyler likes to make stops and drive 10 minutes off the beaten path to get to a stop...Drives me a little crazy but it's always fun in the end...They all loved throwing the frisbee around. What's being in the car an extra hour when your 35 weeks pregnant right?
We stopped and stayed in a cabin on our way up...Can't remember where it was now...We went on a fun hike and saw lots of awesome bugs and trees and flowers. (pssst...Tyler says it was at Hodges Gardens State Park, LA...hehe)
Tyler cookin' up some dutch oven dinner! Chili Mac and it was a HIT!
That's a BIG pinecone...
Austin catching lizards on the back porch
On the hike practicing being frogs before entering the BOG
Waterfall Pose!
Teaching the boys some absolutely necessary Geology info...There was something really cool about this rock and now I don't remember what it was...Guess I wasn't listening. HA! (pssst...Tyler says it's a giant piece of petrified wood, actually more like an entire section of petrified trunk...hehe)
And here's my belly...I felt so much smaller with Drew this time around then with Cody but I feel like I look pretty big for being 34/35 weeks...
Basketball Winter 2016
Austin played on a basketball team for the first time. They had a great team and won every game! So fun to watch. Here's a video of Austin's first LONG shot...He was pretty proud! Can't wait to see him play next year!
First Trip to ER
Blake learned how to ride a bike March 2016...Unfortunately he got a little over confident and his first crash resulted into a split open chin
A was very brave at the hospital...However, he refuses to get back on his bike...Baby Steps!
Cody is a regular eating machine and weighs almost as much as Blake now!
Love this picture of the boys!
Sunday lunch up in the treefort! We love the weather in Texas in Feb/Mar!
Gold Standard Student
I have a lot to catch up on so these next few posts will be some quick highlights since Austin's birthday last February! Austin was in the Spanish Immersion Kindergarten program at his school. He had the BEST teacher, Senora Koppes. She is full of energy and fun, yet has a very disciplined, well behaved class. Austin loved her! He won the award of being a Gold Standard Student. They choose one student in all the pre-K and Kindergarten classes at the school every 6 weeks. He was so excited and got to wear his shirt every Friday for the rest of the school year...which he always made sure he wore. Austin excelled in Kindergarten and went from not reading hardly at all to reading in English and Spanish and writing full sentences with punctuation in Spanish and English! We are excited for Blake to go to Kindergarten this next year and have his same teacher. Way to go Austin!
